ALOHA GLADIATOR AWG800 bred in 2011 by well renowned Arabian Breeders Jim and Mary triggs of Aloha Arabians. Jim and Mary have been breeding Arabians and Arabian Derivatives successful in halter, under saddle, in harness and in endurance. ALOHA GLADIATOR is sired by Arabian Warmblood, Aloha Majestic King, and is out of the Anglo mare, Aloha Embrace.
Gladiator (or Russell, as he is known), is owned, trained and campaigned by his owner, successful Youth Competitor, Charlotte Phillips. Russell is Charlotte’s first young horse, and what a rewarding challenge it has been for the two of them. Charlotte was the AHSA’s inaugural Youth Development Ambassador, after competing for many years on a purebred gelding. Once deciding that she would like to enter Official Dressage and compete at a high level, the decision to purchase an Arabian Warmblood was undertaken. After purchasing Russell as a four year old in mid-2016, Charlotte (who was then 15 years old) went on to educate this green broken, slightly anxious horse in the field of dressage. It was never going to be an easy feat, as Russell had lost sight in one eye due to a paddock accident as a two year old. However, Russell gained confidence during the 18 months that Charlotte concentrated on dressage, and it helped him immensely when he hit the show ring in 2017.
Over the last few years, Charlotte and Russell have amassed an impressive performance record in all disciplines they have tried their hand at, including Arabian showing, Show Horse Council and Equestrian Australia showing, EA Official Dressage, EA Interschools and Pony Club.
