Newsletter – May 2025 – Arabian Horse Society of Australia

Dear Members,

The AHSA Board have been busy over the past couple of months. As Chair, and former Vice Chair—I have aimed to keep members informed of Board decisions over the past two years. This will be the final newsletter before the upcoming AGM.

AANC

February and March were extremely busy and time-consuming for those Directors involved in the Australian National Arabian Championships held in late March. As reported on social media and in our magazine, the show was a great success, and the hard work has clearly paid off. We have received many positive comments from participants, which were especially gratifying. Our International Judges were also very complimentary, and have assured us they will be spreading the word about Australian hospitality, the beauty of our horses, and the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the show.

Next year’s Australian National Arabian Championships will be held from 18th to 21st March 2026 at SIEC (Horsley Park NSW).

WAHO

Following the Championships, our Registrar, Teresa Edwards, and our AHSA Vice Chairman, Adam King, travelled to the UAE to represent Australia at WAHO. They were joined by a contingent of Australians, some of whom were AHSA members. Their reports on the conference talks and stud visits showed that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

AGM

The lead-up to the AGM is always a busy and sometimes stressful time for the Directors involved in the audit. Adam, Teresa, and I put in many hours working through the financials to prepare everything for the auditors. The expertise provided by Director Vanessa Crosland was invaluable, and as Chair, I cannot thank her enough for her contributions. Vanessa will be sadly missed at Board level after the AGM.

Our AGM will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, 31st May 2025. Members have already been emailed the AGM Notice. Please note that this email included the meeting registration link. Registration to attend must be completed prior to 28^th May in order to verify membership status. Upon registration approval you will be emailed registration confirmation which will include the AGM meeting zoom link. Any questions may be submitted to the Secretary in advance to be addressed during the AGM.

Comprehensive reports have been uploaded to the AHSA Website for members to read and review and I strongly encourage all members to read them thoroughly.
