I began riding horses in about 1970 (a girl was to blame) and then started breeding in 1975. In the early days, I rode for mustering, campdrafting, barrel racing, gymkhanas and as a pick-up rider for the local trots. Then, for the last 30+ years it has been mostly endurance.
I have two Tom Quilty buckles (1994 and 2008); was the Ride Director for two Quilties (2000 and 2006); was the Chief Steward for TQ23; have strapped for numerous riders at other Quilties and bred many horses which have won Quilty buckles.
I currently have a stud with five stallions and about twenty mares and breed between three and ten foals a year, most of which find their way into the world of endurance riding.
As a director of the AHSA, I believe the priorities are: maintaining the integrity of the Stud Book; financial responsibility; management which is transparent and accountable; promotion of the Arabian Horse in the general equestrian world.
